The BMus degree was conferred upon Henk Barnard by the University of Potchefstroom and B Mus (Hons) by the University of Pretoria. He obtained an international diploma in the art of conducting under maestro Franco Ferrara at the Academia Musicale Chigiana in Sienna, Italy.
From 1984 until 1997 he was the director of classical music at the SABC. He also directed the SABC Symphony Orchestra with Richard Cock. He established the Con Spirito Music Academy in 1998 and lectured in piano, vocal and theory. He was involved in the choir section of the newly established Classic FM.
For the past 32 years he has been adjudicating eistedfodds, and music competitions on behalf institutions such as the ATKV, departments of education and universities. He is regularly requested to act as continuity adjudicator as well as external examiner. During his career he has conducted various youth and other choirs. He retired in 2019 and lives in Groblerdal.
GOSPEL & CONTEMPORARY, CLASSICAL
Dr Engelette Kruger is an established music teacher in Pretoria. She teaches piano and music theory. She is also a full-time musician at a church where she performs on piano and organ.
Engelette regularly does radio interviews, accompaniment of singers, choirs and instrumentalists, adjudication of music festivals, and performs at weddings and other events. She is also experienced as choir master, and in the coaching of musical ensembles and bands.
She obtained the following qualifications:
Licentiate in vocal accompaniment ( UNISA); Diploma in Higher Education ( UP); BMus ( UP); MMus ( NWU) and DMus ( UP).
